Patient guide- The first step is to place the implant into the jawbone. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia or sedation and is therefore painless. The procedure takes an average of 30 minutes per implant.
- After about 2 weeks, the dentist removes the sutures from the operated area of the implant.
- The next step is the healing and integration phase of the implant with the bone. This is called osseointegration and lasts approximately 2 to 3 months in the mandible and 4 to 6 months in the maxilla.
- After radiological control and confirmation of the proper fixation of the implant, the surgeon inserts a healing screw. This is the exposure of the implant which is performed under local anesthesia.
- About 2 weeks after the implant is exposed, the patient moves on to the prosthetic stage. The dentist thus places the abutment on the screw that will secure the dental crown. Then, he takes the impression of the oral cavity to make the crown.
- After 1 week, the surgeon places the crown on the dental implant.
